Case Study: Printful Shop for Art Gallery

Client: Art Gallery in Noe Valley, San Francisco
Platform: Squarespace 7.1
Challenge: Desire to sell custom merchandise but no room for inventory
Solution: Printful integration for Print on Demand
Link to Project: arthaussf.com/shop

ArtHaus SF is a neighborhood gem located on 24th Street in the heart of Noe Valley. The space is divided into two separate areas. One where she hosts rotating exhibits and the other dedicated to her art studio and art classes for youth and adults. Also a favorite treat destinations for your furry friends.

After hosting a Summer camp, she casually mentioned to me that parents had asked about buying custom merchandise. She loved the idea of seeing her students sporting t-shirts and sweatshirts with her gallery name and logo but there was no budget to purchase inventory and no space to store it. I walked away from the conversation knowing she was feeling defeated but I had a plan. Enter Printful!

Printful is an extension that is built-in to the backend of Squarespace, It allows you to choose products from their extensive catalog that you wish to sell. Once you choose the products, you can upload your logo and/or artwork to create custom merch. They provide a variety of mockups to choose from, which can be uploaded directly to your site along with descriptions which can be edited.

They show you the cost to print and suggest a price range along with your profit. You connect your payment gateway (Stripe or PayPal) and link your bank account, which is where they deposit your profits. YAY!

Once the shop was launched, I created a catalog in Canva and added a QR code on the cover, which she has displayed in the gallery window.

Sales have started flowing in as a lovely stream of passive income for her. The students (young and older) love the merchandise and her dream of seeing ArtHaus SF beanies has become reality!
